We are a grassroots community of neighbors who want to show our appreciation and our gratitude to our first responders, who service our community. The City of Chamblee has five fire houses that service our area and the Chamblee Police Department with the assistance of Doraville Police Department and K9 officers.
These heroes sacrifice time with their families over the holiday's to help protect our community on the most fire hazardous days of the year (hello burned turkey and dried out Christmas trees!).
This is our opportunity to give back just a little bit, for all they do, not just during the holiday's but all year long. Through fundraising, our non profit organization is able to help both the fire departments and the police departments in our area enjoy their holidays!
Our goal is simple. To provide Thanksgiving and Christmas meals to all the working first responders AND their families, on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day!
Holiday for Heroes started with a simple walk up the driveway for Charlotte-ann. She thought it would be nice to start a simple little "project" with her neighbor, Todd Price. She wanted to gather some funds to help bring meals to the local fire house to say thank you for all they do for the community. In the next breath, she found herself getting inquires wanting to donate to this "project" and it grew, from one firehouse, to four fire houses, and two police stations, and four K9 officers. All of this growth was within the first year!
Charlotte-ann is a long time resident of the Chamblee area and at the time of the origination of Holiday for Heroes she served on a local community board as Treasurer. By the 3rd year of Holiday for Heroes, Charlotte-ann asked the The Dresden East Civic Association (DECA) if they would allow her use DECA as a platform to help spread the word on her community project. As the word continued to spread, her mission to provide meals for the Chamblee first responders continued to
become a tradition.
Taking credit or accepting credit is a hard concept for Charlotte-ann, but truthfully, Holiday for Heroes in Chamblee would not exist without her. This program is now starting its 6th year, as 2019 winds down. She will always tell you this is about the "community", not about her. It was and always will be about our first responders, and she is just a representative of our community.
But, we thought you needed a little history!
